Malayan Tiger

Malayan Tiger is only one of the endangers animals in Malaysia. Others like the elephants, deer and even the urangutan are facing similar grim future.

The number of Malayan tiger is dwindling and the reduction of the natural habitat make the matter worst for this unfortunate animal.

Here is another case, when he was so hungry and forced to strayed into a village, he was unlucky to go yet into the statistic of dead malayan tiger.

SELAMA: A three-year-old male tiger was shot dead IN Malaysia..

The local police department confirm the death of the tiger, and according to him the tiger was spotted a number of times in the village. Apparently it had been killing the poultry belonging to the villagers.

Out of fear for the villagers safety, they went to seek help from the local guard, the rela, who went to track and killed the animal at the mid day.

When query was made to the wild life department, they were unhappy with the incident. They felt that the villagers should have contacted the department who would have set the trap to capture the animal. The Malayan tiger could have been reallocated to a new home in Pahang. The local guard can be charged if investigation prove him of inappropriate act.

This has been the sad encounter with malayan tiger, and the same story continues.

ill nl bHe said in the 12.05pm incident, the tiger, weighing some 120kg, was believed to have strayed into the village, some 10km from the Bintang Hijau Forest Reserve to forage for food.

Spotting the tiger, the villager sought help from a friend, who is a Rela member, said ASP Ramli.

Shot to death: A department official showing the carcass of the tiger that was shot dead in Kampung Ulu Damaq in Sungai Bayor yesterday.
Armed with a shotgun, the Rela member killed the animal.

Perak Wildlife Protection and National Parks Department director Shabrina Mohd Shariff said a team had been sent to the village to investigate the incident.

“The villager claimed the tiger had killed his poultry,” she said.

She added that the carcass had been sent to the Wildlife Conservation Centre in Sungkai for preservation.

Shabrina said the villager should have called the department to set a a trap to catch the animal.

“We will not hesitate to recommend that the Rela member be charged if investigations find any wrongdoing,” she added.

This is the second tiger that was reportedly killed in the state this year.

In February, a tiger was caught in a wire snare and was killed by an orang asli at the Bukit Tapah Forest Reserve.

However the orang asli or the aborigines has never become the reason for the animals to be at the brink of extinction. This is because these people had been living harmoniously for thousands of years.
