The small town of Taiping is well known to flying raptors watchers. These birds of prey are on their annual migration to Indonesia to escape the cool winter of the north. The period of September and October will be the time to view these beautiful creatures, flying in hundres. However due to the high attitudes, they look like specs of dusk to the untrained eyes of the common people.

The birds from China and Russia are running away fro the winter. During winter, it is harder to find food, so these birds are better off in the tropical indonesia. The most common variety to be seen in Taiping is theChinese Goshawk, Japanese sparro, black baza and the brahminy kite.
